For Immediate Release – Bum Boosa Expands Packaging Reclamation Program

Bum Boosa Expands Packaging Reclamation Program’s Upcycling Coordinator June Monteiro says, “This program is an exciting endeavor for myself as a designer and artist, but also for the consumer who cares about the sustainability of the products they buy.”

Boosa® Bamboo Products Launches Exciting Packaging Reclamation Program, Offering Retailers Exclusive Incentives to Participate Beginning July 1, 2014

Bum Boosa® is not only committed to decreasing our use of oil-based plastics, but also repurposing those plastics that are currently a necessity in the making of Bum Boosa Bamboo Products.

Cape Cod, Massachusetts – April 25, 2014 – Bum Boosa® Bamboo Products, the first brand in the USA to offer baby wipes and bathroom tissue made from renewable and sustainable bamboo, announced today that it will be offering a unique baby wipes packaging reclamation program to retail stores and their customers beginning July 1, 2014.  This program will allow customers to deposit their empty baby wipes packaging to the store in exchange for a coupon that can be applied to their next Bum Boosa Bamboo Baby Wipes purchase. The packaging will be sent back to Bum Boosa® where designers will use the material to make upcycled products.

Given that soft baby wipes packaging is not easy to recycle because it is made using a mixed resin plastic, also known as Plastic No. 7, or “other” plastics, Bum Boosa Bamboo Products has previously offered an incentive program for its direct customers to send back their empty baby wipes packaging to be repurposed into new tote bags, but now they aim to expand the program to include retailer participation.

Bum Boosa Founder Sonja Sheasley says, “While we have made every effort to find “easy to recycle” soft packaging and have even researched biodegradable packaging material, it has simply not been possible for wet wipes.  However, we are committed to being as environmentally-responsible as possible, and we are eager to expand the Bum Boosa Upcycling Program with our retail partners and customers.”

Upcycling Program

Program participation will involve the retail store signing up for the Upcycling Program. They will then receive at no cost to them, a collection bin, manufacturers coupons designed exclusively for their store, and a pre-paid freight box ready to send back the first round of packaging (with future pre-paid freight boxes to follow as needed). Regional sales representatives, if available, will be asked to support the program.  Opportunities to promote the program can be held in conjunction with passive demos by sales representatives and/or drawings to win both Upcycled Bum Boosa  Products and Bum Boosa Bamboo Baby Wipes.

Bum Boosa Expands Packaging Reclamation ProgramBum Boosa Upcycling Coordinator June Monteiro says, “This program is an exciting endeavor for myself as a designer and artist, but also for the consumer who cares about the sustainability of the products they buy. Our program currently repurposes empty baby wipes packaging for tote bags, however in the future we will feature more baby friendly products such as decorative headbands, diaper changers and bibs, all created from used and returned Bum Boosa Bamboo Baby Wipes packaging. This program will allow for stores, consumers and all of us at Bum Boosa to collectively have a hand in creating a fully recycled and redesigned product.”
